Sign up for a session below and try it out! Whether you're experiencing flash frustrations, like someone cutting you off in traffic, or sustained frustrations, like not feeling heard by the people in your life, I can teach you how to wrap those frustrations in humor and laugh them off. Laughter is a healthy and joyful strategy that can be practiced every day to reduce the impact of any frustration you may encounter.
That's not a question, but I get what you mean. This program is NOT about you becoming a comedian; comedians are focused on making other people laugh. My focus is on helping you discover ways to make yourself laugh. Have you ever laughed? Yes? Then you're ready to start!
Think of it as a guide that we will be using during the session. The worksheet takes you step-by-step through the process of writing and recording a bit that makes you laugh. The facilitator (me) will help you identify the funniest ideas that you share during the session and add them to the worksheet. Then, the next time you encounter the same frustration, you can remember the joke you created using the worksheet and give yourself permission to laugh it off.
Whatever your heart desires! Frustrated by work? Feelings of insecurity? The fact that pumpkin spice lattes are only available in the fall? Any type of frustrations that can pile up and push you toward burnout are ripe with opportunities to find humor.
No, finding the humor in a situation is not avoidance. In fact, positive humor can actually help you cope with challenges and negativity by reframing your perspective. There has been tons of research on the therapeutic benefits of laughter. Check out the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor and the International Society for Humor Studies to learn more.
Explore the resources on this page and give it a try! I do believe there are two, clear benefits of participating in a session with me:
1. I'm an expert at this process and can help you quickly find your funny.
2. When you share something funny during the session, I will encourage you by laughing, which will make you laugh, which will make me laugh harder, which will make you laugh harder, so on and so forth. Laughing is a social activity, which means learning the process with someone else has its own benefits.
